“Janana” in Rajasthani, signifies a place of an area meant for the ladies. This set of chairs and tables where designed for the space which was traditionally used for lodging and recreation of ladies from the noble families. Thus the furniture is made to look like a flamboyant Rajasthan tribal woman, her full set of arm bangles transforming itself as the bangle adorned legs of the table and her colourful attire inspires the soft furnishings on the chair.
Mardana” in Rajasthani, signifies a place or an area meant for the men. This set of chairs and tables where designed for the space “which was traditionally used as a hunting lodge by the local landlords. Thus the furniture had to imbibe the same spirit of adventure and ruggedness. Moreover the silhouettes of the furniture are a mirror image of the silhouettes of the arches and notches of this hunting lodge, creating a beautiful synchrony.
Patal table is created by the interesting ensemble of waste wood used at the construction site of Lakshman Sagar with at a table top, simply created by placing a “Patal” ( a big pan) used for frying Indian sweets. The color orange is in memory of the delicious JALABIES that are usually fried in similar pans.
